Description
-SALE PENDING-Following the success of the “Task Force” generation of trucks, Chevrolet introduced a new design for the next decade in 1960. The new line featured more simplistic styling as well as a new naming scheme. All trucks would begin with either a “C” for 2-wheel drive or “K” to denote 4-wheel drive and end with a 10, 20 or 30 depending on 1/2-, 3/4- or 1-ton rating. The recipe was a success, with Chevrolet setting new sales records from 1964 through the end of the production run in 1966. Over 25 different configurations were offered – such as bed length, drive, bed style and other options – so buyers could get something that suited their exact needs. This particular 1966 K10 was built from the factory as a 4-wheel-drive, fleetside short-bed pickup, and was one of only 678 produced in that configuration that year. It has undergone a full nut-and bolt restoration to factory spec with several drivability upgrades, including power steering and brakes. The attention to detail is exemplary, right down to the engine bay and underneath the truck; every piece has been painted or powder-coated in this high-level restoration. That impeccable engine bay houses a 327 V8 backed by an automatic transmission, with a Rockwell T221 divorced transfer case putting power to the 4-wheel-drive system. The exterior has been repainted in a factory two-tone combination of light green with white, complemented by a refinished wood bed with a high-gloss shine. Rounding out the rugged 4x4 look are a set of 15” period Rally wheels with all-terrain tires. The Fawn Beige interior has been restored to like-new condition with several upgrades for comfort, like a sliding rear window, tilt steering column and a retro-look modern stereo. The fact that so few in this configuration were produced, combined with the incredible detail of restoration, makes this K10 one of the best examples of a classic 4x4 available.
