Description
1934 marked the final year of production for the Ford Model 40, and buyers were offered no less than 12 different body styles to choose from. Engine options ranged from a modest 4-cylinder to the famous 'Flathead' 221ci V8. When introduced, the Flathead was rated at 65hp, but by 1934, engineers were able to increase the output to 85hp through improvements in the carburetor and ignition. This Model 40 Cabriolet features the Flathead V8 backed by a 3-speed manual sliding-gear transmission. It was the recipient of an older high-point restoration and has been well-maintained since. Equipped with rare features such a burled wood dash, original-style leather seating and coolant temperature gauge, this car is more than just a standard 1934 Ford. It has been held in the collection of Johnny Bennett, a well-known early Ford V8 collector and enthusiast. After that it was acquired by Milton Robson, where it was part of the famed 'Steel Horse Ranch,' until the entire collection was sold in 2010.Popular even in the midst of the Great Depression, the demand for the 1934 Ford Model 40 continued with custom car crafters for years to come. As a result of the car's popularity and many being made into hot rods, period-correct restorations like this one are rare.
