Description
SALE PENDINGThis 1966 Fairlane started life as with an unassuming 289 V8 and automatic transmission, but when Doug Shultz of Maple Valley, WA, got his hands on it, the car underwent an incredible transformation. The entire chassis was replaced with a full custom piece, supported by a parallel 4-link in the rear with a Sprint Car-style anti-roll bar and a modified Heidts Super Ride II system up front. It utilizes Air Ride Technologies Shock Wave air bags for a fully adjustable ride height. Under the hood is a potent 514ci Ford big-block engine with Super Cobra Jet heads, a solid roller cam shaft and a Blue Thunder dual-quad intake manifold, capped off with Accel throttle bodies and custom multi-port fuel injection. Backing it is a Richmond 6-speed transmission with a steel flywheel and Centerforce clutch, sending power to a Ford 9' rear with 3.50 gears and Eaton posi-traction. Bringing it all to a stop are massive 12' Baer brakes with staggered-fit Boyd Coddington 'Hot Rod' wheels. The Interior features a full 10-point roll cage with custom upholstery and dash. The exterior is finished in a two-tone PPG Salsa Red and Titanium scheme. Body modifications include shaved door handles, an integrated rear spoiler and a modified 'R-code' style hood. The car has an impressive list of awards, including Boyd Coddington - Pro's Pick, Air Ride Technologies - Low Smooth Cool, Goodguys - Gazette Pick, Art Morrison - Pro's Pick, Seattle Roadster Show - Outstanding Paint, Goodguys - Muscle Machine of the Year finalist, Mothers Choice Award. Additionally, this car has been featured in numerous publications in 2008 and 2009, including Super Rod, Legendary Ford magazine, Modified Mustangs, Fords and Muscle Car Power. It was also the Goodguys Gazette cover car in December 2007.
