Description
SALE PENDINGThis 1970 280SL is equipped with a correct M130 2.8l inline 6 engine. It features a rare 4-speed manual transmission as well. The car has been repainted in Dark Olive Green and features a tan interior, with matching green removable hardtop. The engine bay is largely original, retaining the spot welds on the inner fender and the factory pad on the firewall. The 280SL was introduced in 1967, giving buyers a more powerful option over the smaller engine 250SL. The automotive public was thrilled, as many felt the car now had the power it needed to be a superb grand tourer. The sales response was so great that Mercedes decided to discontinue the 250 by the end of 1968 and offer the 280 as the only option. With the manual transmission and steering, combined with the most powerful engine offered in a Pagoda SL, this car is a great example of a vintage Mercedes-Benz sports car
