1965 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE
By 1965 the Continental had become an American icon of luxury and class, but the design from 1961 was due for a midyear refresh. Gone was the curved grille, replaced by a flatter, more streamlined piece. Turn signals were moved to the fenders and adorned with new ribbed chrome bezels that were placed on the taillights as well. The only engine available was a 430ci V8 rated at 320hp, but with a curb weight of over 5,000 pounds, this was not a car for a performance-minded buyer. All cars came well-equipped with a long list of standard features, including the famous rear hinged 'suicide' doors; however, buyers still had the option to add additional features like air conditioning, vertically adjustable steering column, cruise control and automatic headlight dimmer.Having undergone a professional frame-up restoration in 2016, this Continental convertible is ready to cruise. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt, as have the suspension components. The car rides 2 inches lower than stock on whitewall tires sporting a set of 1966 Lincoln hubcaps (the original 1965 hubcaps come with the car as well). The interior has been completely reupholstered in leather in the original green color, and the exterior features a two-tone vinyl wrap and a solid, rust-free body. Inside the glove compartment, a modern stereo has been installed with Bluetooth and auxiliary inputs to keep the original look of the dash.
