1965 SCHWINN SUPER DELUXE STINGRAY BICYCLE
|Style||SUPER DELUXE STINGRAY BICYCLE|
-SOLD-In 1963, Schwinn introduced a low-slung child’s bicycle that had begun as a fad in Southern California. The California custom bikes had small wheels, “Longhorn” handlebars and a slim, elongated seat. The mass-produced Schwinn Sting-Ray was an instant success; it was perfect for wheelies, and the “banana” seat accommodated the rider and his “date.” Known as “the bike with the sports car look,” the Sting-Ray came in vibrant colors, including Flamboyant Lime, Radiant Coppertone, Sky Blue and Violet.This Flamboyant Lime 1965 Schwinn Super Deluxe Sting-Ray is a largely original and unmodified example. It features all original parts except for the pedals, which are original replacements. The fenders, gooseneck, forks, chain and kickstand have all been rechromed. The seat was reupholstered and the original frame was repainted. The sissy bar, seat post, handlebars, grips and sprocket are in original, unrestored condition. It features a set of NOS whitewall tires on original-spec 20” wire spoke wheels. This vintage bike is a great collection piece for any enthusiast.
