Description
The Resto-Mod trend continues to gain steam in the collector car world, with buyers embracing the concept of melding classic looks with modern performance. Upgraded suspensions, disc-brake conversions, custom wheels and engine swaps are all popular upgrades to improve performance, reliability and even comfort. However, a balance between old and new is a crucial to a great Resto-Mod, which is exemplified by this 1970 Chevelle.The exterior is finished in a deep red with white SS-style stripes. To complete the Super Sport look, 454 SS badging has been added to the side and an SS grille was installed. A raised cowl-induction-style hood with hood pins was installed to finish things off. Under the hood is a 454ci big-block V8, boasting numerous performance upgrades like a FITech electronic fuel-injection throttle body, MSD ignition, HYD roller cam and Edelbrock aluminum heads. Backing up the engine is a 5-speed manual transmission, putting the power to a 12-bolt rear. The suspension has been upgraded with QA1 coilovers all around and tubular A-arms in the front. Hotchkis sway bars and rear link bars were added as well. It rides on staggered-fit Bonspeed two-piece billet wheels, and power Wilwood disc brakes bring them to a stop, with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-pistion in the rear.The interior has been restored with stock-style seats, door panels, headliner and center console. Upgrades like a modern stereo, Hurst shifter, billet steering wheel and Auto Meter gauges add just the right finishing touches.With the right blend of old and new, this 1970 Chevelle is the perfect example of classic style and modern performance.
