Like most members of the Barrett-Jackson team, Jeff's love of cars emerged early in life. As a child growing up in the small town of Lakeview Oregon, Jeff loved to disassemble an entire vehicle and put it back together just to figure out how it worked. Jeff's father had him mainly working on older vehicles: "the old-school stuff," as Catlin calls it. By high school, the elder Catlin noticed a strong talent in his son and started pushing him to get into the automotive industry. He didn't have to push hard.
After graduating from the Phoenix Institute of Technology, Jeff began working at Sun Pontiac in Mesa, Arizona. He started out as an apprentice and eventually moved his way up to service advisor. After a long tenure at Sun Pontiac, Jeff moved to Earnhardt Cadillac-Hummer-Saab, where he remained until April of 2014.
Jeff began his journey in 2008 with Barrett-Jackson on a part time basis during his tenure at Earnhardt. He now assists in overseeing the Driver Department during the event. Catlin holds several certifications, and is also a Master Certified Hummer H1 mechanic. In the past he has also run his own repair facility, Catman Motorsports, and completed full-blown high-quality restorations for collectors.
In mid 2014, Catlin was brought on board to manage a Service Department within the new Showroom Division. Currently, he and his team of mechanics offer repairs, maintenance, and light reconditioning of collector cars.
